Blake Weathersby, MD

Dr. Weathersby is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine and nephrology training at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Weathersby joined Charleston Nephrology in 2003. Dr. Weathersby is originally from Mississippi and is an avid cyclist. He lives with his wife and three children in Mt. Pleasant.

Michael L. Sobel, MD

Dr. Sobel graduated from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy while specializing in Medicinal Chemistry. He was awarded the annual Pharmacognosy Award for his outstanding academic achievement in the division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy.

He received his medical degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Dr. Sobel completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, an affiliate teaching hospital of the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Sobel is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

He relocated to the low country from Columbus Ohio, where he was in private practice for 15 years. He lives with his wife Janice and three sons in Mt. Pleasant.

Lori is an ANCC Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and received her Masters in Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000. She has over 20 years of Nephrology Nursing experience and has been with Charleston Nephrology since 2000.

Alex M. Gardner, APRN

Alex is a certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and received his Master of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama.  He joined Charleston Nephrology in August 2016.  Alex enjoys spending time with his finance, Dana and their two French bulldogs Penelope and Frankenstein.

Crystal D. Poole, PA-C

Crystal D. Poole, PA-C is a 2008 graduate of the MUSC Physician Assistant program. She serves as a preceptor to the MUSC PA students and has served as a guest lecturer at MUSC. Crystal has been a part of the Charleston nephrology team since 2008. Crystal enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, and golden retriever, Baxter.
